FAQs

Where do clear windowed envelopes or plastic strapping belong?

  • Clear windowed envelopes or any other type of envelope with plastic components goes into Printer's Mix, not Uncoated White.
  • Plastic strapping, stretch wraps, and poly bags go into Plastic Materials bin.
  • All loose tapes, foams, gloves, and other types of nonrecyclables go into the trash and not into any recycling bin.

What happens if there is food or tape in the bin too?

Food, liquid, dirt, tape, and incorrectly sorted materials will contaminate the recyclable paper. Contaminated material is of low quality, difficult to process, and, in some cases, is discarded.

How do I know whether my material is coated or even recyclable?

Ask your supervisor to determine if you are unsure about whether your material is coated or recyclable. It is a small effort but a necessary one to ensure that your material is sorted correctly.

Proper sorting is part of our common goal to make the best use of recyclable materials.

Remember the BIG 3 Rules:

  • Keep your materials clean.
  • Keep your materials dry.
  • Keep your materials sorted by bin.

Clean, dry, and correctly sorted materials will be recycled with ease and put to better use.
